Weighing the Heart: Ma’at and the Libra Full Moon

The Libra Full Moon brings us to a celestial tipping point. As the moon reaches its fullness in the sign of the scales, we are invited into a sacred period of evaluation. Libra, ruled by Venus, governs how we relate—to the world, to others, and most importantly, to ourselves. This is a time to "account for our lives," to weigh and measure the ins and outs, the ebbs and flows, and the resonance of our own hearts.
The Macrocosm and the Microcosm
All existence relies on balance. The universe is the macrocosm of law and order, cause and effect—the hermetic principles that are ageless and drawn from the first expression of formlessness experiencing itself in form. As humans, we are the microcosm of this greater whole. Every choice, action, and even thought feeds back into the larger collective web.
This Full Moon asks us to look at the pendulum of our lives. We can only discover our true self by following the ideals we create, sometimes discovering what we are through the journey of what we are not. Healing occurs when we recognise where we have been taken too far out of balance and find the courage to return to harmony.
Ma’at: The Spiritual Technology of Harmony
In Ancient Egypt, the goddess of law and order was Ma’at. She represented the underlying truth that Nature is Law. Along with Osiris and Anubis, she carried out the Weighing of the Heart on the scales of truth and justice.
The Egyptians believed the Soul would transition into a long and happy afterlife only if their heart was weighed and measured as light as the feather of Ma’at. This was not a literal measurement, but a metaphorical one: was the life lived in harmony with the divine order of all things?
The 42 Ideals as a Venusian Mirror
Venus invites us to look at our "relationships" in every form. How do we relate to the Earth? To our speech? To our own integrity?
When I travelled through Egypt, I stood before the statue of Sekhmet—the goddess who reminds us to maintain the light and dark, chaos and order—and spoke the principles of Ma’at aloud. It was a ritual of love for all life and a commitment to the greater good.
For this Libra Full Moon, I have recorded a meditative practice where I read these 42 Ideals aloud. I invite you to listen and feel the vibration of these words through your body. This is an embodied and immersive exercise in "weighing your own heart" to see where you can restore lightness and grace.

A Return to Source
The ancients knew that the swinging of the pendulum was inevitable, yet their connection to all things let them live lives filled with love and joy. As the outward-flowing waters of this season allow you to release all that has served, use these ideals to tune back into the "Lightness of Heart."
Join me in this meditative practice to bring harmony and oneness into your reality.
As we weigh the scales of the heart together, I invite you to share your own experience. Which of the 42 Ideals resonated most deeply with you today?
Did you feel a shift in your own "lightness of heart" as you spoke them aloud?
Please leave a comment below to share your reflections or simply leave a ⚖️ to signify your commitment to living in harmony. I look forward to connecting with you in the space between the scales.
With love,
Gemma x
